Beams T regards the T-shirt as a canvas for new ideas in art and design, and in each year of its 20-year history has invited artists from around the world to create designs for their T-shirts, 300 of which are featured here. Beams T is a popular T-shirt chain in Japan which opened its first retail outlet in 2001. They now have a chain of stores throughout Japan, which feature their exclusive rotating hanger device and minimalist interior design, ensuring all consumer attention is focused on the T-shirts. The shops also serve as an exhibition space for the artwork from participating artists.
