The noble residences were works of art, in which their owners tried to express their greatness and personalities, however, the one or two generations of the elite were not always aware of this during the turbulent centuries of Hungarian history. The countrys castles are a disappearing part of its heritage. This book would like to commemorate these works of art, and introduce the surviving examples, which luckily still can be seen. Hopefully this book can also help in preserving these residences, which were not only the homes of well-known aristocrats but the centres of local cultural life.
